    List of Churches in LAGUNA for Visita Iglesia

    Laguna is probably known to many as the birthplace of our national hero. More than that, Laguna has so many amazing places to offer and that include their famous hot springs in Los Baños and Calamba and of course the popular Pagsanjan Falls. To top it all, Laguna Province is also proud of their unique trademarks including the tsinelas footwear of Liliw and the Wood carvings of Paete.

    Now that the lent season is nearly approaching, you might be looking for an ideal place for your traditional visita iglesia. The province of Laguna is definitely a perfect fit as it features a lot of historically-significant churches that are absolutely worth-visiting.

    Listed below are some of the popular churches in Laguna that you might want to include on your Visita Iglesia this year. Honestly, i have never been to Laguna yet so all pictures below are not mine. Laguna is also my target place for this year’s Visita Iglesia.

    1. San Pedro Apostol Parish – San Pedro, Laguna

    Located in Mabini st., Brgy. Poblacion, San Pedro. Situated at the heart of the town plaza of San Pedro. The church and the town itself is under the patronage of Saint Peter. San Pedro is also the home of the miraculous Krus ng San Pedro Tunasan

    2. Santo Niño De Cebu Parish – Biñan, Laguna

    The Santo Niño De Cebu Parish compare to other churches in the province is relatively new but definitely a site to marvel. Built by Augustinian friars in 1984. The current church underwent reconstruction in 2002. Located in Southwoods Ave, Biñan.

    3. San Isidro Labrador Parish – Biñan, Laguna

    Also built by the Augustinians in the late 19th century. The church went through several reconstruction after being destroyed in various occasion including the huge fire in 1968. Location: Plaza Rizal, Barangay Poblacion, Binan City.

    4. Saint John The Baptist Church – Calamba, Laguna

    Just few walks away from the historical Rizal Shrine is the Saint John the Baptist Church or simply known as the Calamba Church. The place is well known as the christening site of Jose Rizal. Also, the first Filipino priest, Father Angel Villaruz, served the longest in this church for 43 years since 1901. Location: JP Rizal cor. Mercado St, Poblacion 5, Calamba, Laguna.

    5. Immaculate Conception Parish – Los Baños, Laguna

    The church is considered one of the oldest in the town of Los Baños. The church enshrines the local image of Nuestra Señora del Aguas Santas which is said to be miraculous. Due to the popular devotion to the Virgin and miracles attributed to her, the church is currently petitioning to become a diocesan shrine.Location: Poblacion, Los Baños, Laguna

    6. Saint Augustine Church – Bay, Laguna

    Founded in 1571 by the Augustinians, The Saint Augustine Church in Bay is considered to be the oldest Roman Catholic church in the province. It was later transferred to Franciscans. Location:17 A Bonifacio St, Bay, Laguna

    7. Our Lady of the Pillar Parish – Alaminos, Laguna

    The church was first established in 1815 and situated on the farthest corner of “Hacienda de Calauan” owned by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, founder of manila. The town is celebrating the feast day of their patroness every 12th day of October. Location: J.P. Rizal Sreet, Barangay III, Alaminos, Laguna

    8. Saint Paul The First Hermit Cathedral – San Pablo, Laguna

    Cathedral Parish of Saint Paul The First Hermit or simply known as San Pablo Cathedral was initially founded in 1586. The church underwent a series of renovation through the years including the major reconstruction in 2015 in which the original facade was restored. San Pablo Norte, San Pablo City

    9. Saint Bartholomew The Apostle Parish – Naglarcan, Laguna

    The church was founded by the Franciscans in 1578 and was dedicated under the patronage of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle. The church is probably known more for its Underground Cemetery founded in 1845 and is now being supervised and managed by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. Location: Brgy. Bambang, Nagcarlan, Laguna

    10. San Antonio De Padua Parish – Pila, Laguna

    San Antonio De Padua Parish or simply Pila Church was founded in 1578. It is considered to be the first Antonine church to be ever built in the Philippines and in Asia. In 1606 the Franciscans set up the second printing press of the Philippines under the supervision of Tomás Pinpín and Domingo Loag. Location: Poblacion, Pila, Laguna

    11. Saint John The Baptist – Liliw, Laguna

    Saint John The Baptist Church in Liliw is founded in 1605 by the Franciscans. The church is notable for its red bricked facade and baroque style architecture. The church also houses the image and a first class relic of San Buenaventura in their chapel. Location: Liliw, Laguna

    12. Saint Gregory The Great Parish – Majayjay, Laguna

    Saint Gregory The Great Parish or simply known as the Majayjay church is founded in 1571 and is one of the oldest churches in the country. It is notable for its romaneque architecture. Above all, the church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum in 2001. Location: F. Blumentritt St., Majayjay, Laguna

    13. Saint Mary Magdalene Parish – Magdalena, Laguna

    The first church, made of cogon and wood was constructed in 1820 and was dedicated to Mary Magdalene. In its convent, Filipino revolutionary leader General Emilio Jacinto sought refuge and his blood stains could be found. Location: Bonifacio, Magdalena, Laguna

    14. Immaculate Conception Parish – Sta Cruz, Laguna

    Immaculate Conception Parish Church or simply known as Santa Cruz Church was founded in 1608. The church was utterly destroyed by Fire in 1945 during the Battle of the Philippines and was reconstructed in 1948. Beside the devotion to the Immaculate Conception, an image of the Holy Guardian Angel, whose devotion started in 1678 was venerated in Santa Cruz. Location: P. Guevarra Avenue, Santa Cruz, Laguna

    15. Our Lady of Guadalupe Church – Pagsanjan, Laguna

    Interestingly, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is only Roman Catholic church in the town of Pagsanjan and also the oldest church in the Philippines under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The church enshrines a life-sized image of Our lady of Guadalupe. Location : National Highway, Pagsanjan

    16. Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish – Luisiana, Laguna

    Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Luisiana is founded in 1854. It features a very simple facade with a notable image of the Immaculate Conception on top of the pediment. Beside the church is the Liceo De Luisiana (formerly Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Academy). Location: Luisiana, Laguna.

    17. Parish of Transfiguration of the Lord – Cavinti, Laguna

    The Parish of Trasfiguration of our Lord or simply the Cavinti Church was founded in 1619. The first stone church and convent were built in 1621 but was utterly destroyed by many occasions. One of which includes the 1880 Earthquake in Luzon. Aside from the El Salvador Del Mundo, Our Lady of Snows and St Joseph are also considered as the town’s patrons. Location: Cailles St, Cavinti, Laguna.

    18. Saint Sebastian Parish – Lumban , Laguna

    The first church in Lumban was established in 1578 but was destroyed by flood. The stone church of Lumban was finished in 1600 and it became the first stone church in Laguna and the first Franciscan building outside Manila made out of stone. The Church and the town of Lumban adopted Saint Sebastian Martyr as its patron saint in 18th Century. Location: Lumban, Laguna

    19. Saint John The Baptist Church – Kalayaan, Laguna

    Longos town was founded by the Franciscans in 1587 under the patronage of Saint John the Baptist. It was elevated into a Parish status in 1996. Unfortunately, the church suffered greatly during the Typhoon Milenyo where the entire roof was blown away. The church also houses an old bas relief of Saint John the Baptist. Location: Longos, Lumban, Laguna.

    20. Saint James The Apostle Parish – Paete, Laguna

    Possibly one of the most stunning churches in the province. Founded by the Franciscans in 1580 under the patronage of Saint James the Apostle, Paete church is known for its huge and exquisite collection of images depicting the Passion of Christ and its century-old paintings and wooden images of saints. Location: Tinawin St, Paete, Laguna

    21. San Pedro De Alcantara Parish – Pakil, Laguna

    San Pedro de Alcantara Parish also serves as the Diocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora delos Dolores De Turumba,one of the most prominent Marian images in the country. It enshrines the 231 year old image of Our Lady of Turumba. The town is also known for its festive Lupi Festival. Location: Barangay Poblacion, Pakil, Laguna

    22. Nuestra Señora De La Natividad Parish – Pangil, Laguna

    Nuestra Señora De la Natividad Parish or commonly known as Pangil Church was founded by the Franciscans in 1579. The first church dedicated to the Nativity of Mary was built out of cane but the stone one and the convent was completed in 1611. The church enshrines the image of Nuestra Señora de la O, another prominent Marian image in the country. Location: Pangil, Laguna

    23. Saints Peter and Paul Parish – Siniloan, Laguna

    Saints Peter and Paul Parish was founded in 1604. The old church was actually built and completed in 1739. It was utterly damaged by the 1880 Luzon Earthquake and was rebuilt 1890-1898. The church was reconstructed, modernized and remodeled in 2004 as part of its quadricentennial anniversary. Location: Paete-Pakil-Famy Diversion Rd., Bagumbarangay, Siniloan, Laguna
