What Is It Like Living In Las Piñas, Philippines

Living in las piñas is a fantastic idea if you are looking for a new place to live in the Philippines. Nevertheless, you may have some questions about the overall cost of living in las piñas as a foreigner? And, is las piñas a good place to live for retirees? These questions are more will be answered in today’s full guide of living in las piñas.

Living in las piñas as a foreigner is an exciting experience as there are several things to do and see around the city. Similar to other cities of Manila, there are new and modern parts of the city and some traditional and older areas.

Several large and high-quality condominiums are situated in Almanza Uno, a great part of the city. This is a great part of the city because in the area you will find several malls, hospitals, and even a Phill Health office.

There are several neighborhoods off the main road to explore, including several markets and stores all across the city. Las piñas is classed as a highly urbanized city. It has even been awarded as one of the best places to live in the Philippines several years ago. However, as many cities in the Philippines have been developing, it has unfortunately lost its winning spot.

Similar to most parts of the Philippines, you will not have any difficulty communicating in English when living in las piñas as a foreigner.

Transportation is also a concern for those who wish to live in las piñas. The great news is, there are plenty of options. You will find several bus routes, Jeepneys, and private taxis available all across the city. Most forms of transportation are extremely cost-effective, with the Jeepneys being the lowest at around 10 Pesos (depending on your destination).

Cost Of Living In Las Piñas

The overall cost of living in las piñas for an expat is between $1200 – $1500 on average. The most significant expense tends to be accommodation. Therefore if you can lower this expense, you will be able to live in las piñas for much less.

The price for a two-bedroom condominium fluctuates between 40K – 50K Pesos. A small studio or one-bedroom unit ranges between 16K – 20K Pesos. In my experience, most expats living in las piñas tend to spend around 25K Pesos for their accommodation each month, but this is optional.

For a budget of 20K – 23K Pesos, There are plenty of one-bedroom houses available. There are also several new developments, including townhouses available for 25K Pesos. There are also several houses in the quieter neighborhoods, and these can be rented for as little as 8K – 10K Pesos a month.

Food costs and transportation tend to be subjective when living in las piñas. The city has a host of different options to suit all budgets, and therefore some expats may spend a lot more than others.

As an estimate, I would budget between 10K – 15K Pesos per month for food and 5K – 10K Pesos on transport per month.

If we then consider entertainment, visas, nightlife, and other daily expenses, we arrive at a total of $1200 – $1500. If you wish to live very comfortably in las piñas as an expat, it’s often recommended to budget at least $2000 as this will take care of all essential expenses while also leaving some remaining cash available.

Is Las Piñas A Good Place To Retire

It’s not that las piñas is not a good place to live (because it is a great place to live), but there are other options to retire happily in the Philippines.

The Philippines, in general, has some beautiful sights, and we have spoken in great detail about retiring in the Philippines previously. From this article and others, it’s clear to see that retirement in las piñas is a great option but also has some disadvantages.

However, many benefits to retiring in las piñas include the upbeat and modern environment, the friendly locals, and the cheaper cost of living compared to metropolitan Manila.

    Is Las Piñas Safe

Based on online contributions, it appears that the crime rating ranges from moderate to low. Several years ago, las piñas was recognized as one of the lowest crime rate cities in Manila; however, at this current moment in time, the PNP has not released crime rates for the city. Therefore we recommend being vigilant at all times.

Most visits to las piñas are completely troublefree, and many expats have lived in las piñas for years without any incidents; however, due to its location, there are times where more serious crimes have been reported.
