Aficionado, Takoyatea tap Meralco for solar rooftop projects

Spectrum, a wholly owned subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), will put up the solar rooftop project of perfume label Aficionado and Japanese food house Takoyatea.

The move will help the two brands achieve more savings through a cleaner energy source.

Spectrum will install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with a collective capacity of 89.82-kilowatt peak (kWp) in four sites–Takoyatea’s commissary and Aficionado’s main office in Sampaloc, Manila, manufacturing plant and warehouse in Meycauayan, Bulacan.

The project will translate to around P951,000 in annual savings and will help the two brands reduce their carbon footprint by 87.34 tons equivalent to planting 4,020 trees or reducing nearly 348,000 kilometers in car travel.

Spectrum president and CEO Engr. Ferdinand O. Geluz said the company’s partners are also assured of good quality and reliable service apart from being empowered to achieve sustainability and financial goals.

In 2022, Spectrum completed the 12.74 kWp solar project for the Takoyatea commissary in Manila, which already generated P99,000 in savings and reduced the brand’s carbon emissions by about six tons from June 2022 to January 2023.
