Travel like it’s 2019: Clark airport tops pre-pandemic levels from January to August
Air travel is booming at the Clark International Airport as passenger traffic and number of flights have exceeded pre-pandemic levels in the first eight months of the year.
Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD), operator of the Clark International Airport, said the gateway welcomed 434,214 passengers from January to August, of which 363,878 flew to overseas destinations while 70,336 traveled to domestic destinations.
LIPAD said this translates to a 282.2 percent growth, with 521.7 percent increase in domestic passengers and 255.57 percent rise in international passengers over the same period last year.
Compared to pre-pandemic levels, LIPAD said this year’s passenger traffic represented a 16 percent growth, with the number of international passengers posting a 31 percent jump.
The Clark airport also saw a 129.1 percent jump in the total number of flights in the first eight months. This marked a 14 percent rise from the same period pre-pandemic.
