MVP Group reiterates proposal to build P22B Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas expressway
Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has reiterated its plan to construct a P22.4 billion tollroad that will connect Cavite, Tagaytay and Batangas after rival San Miguel Corp. submitted a similar proposal.
MPTC chief executive officer Rodrigo Franco said the company wrote the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to “reiterate” its proposal which obtained original proponent status (OPS) from the Department of Public Works and Highways in 2018.
Its planned project, CTBEX will connect from the west of Silang East interchange of the Cavite Laguna Expressway and will pass through Silang, Pool, Amadeo, Tagaytay, Mendez, Alfonso, Magallanes, Tuy and Nasugbu.
“Kasi nag-worry kami about the news,”
Franco said, referring to SMC securing an OPS from the provincial government of Cavite to build a 27.06 kilometer toll Cavite-Batangas Expressway Project.SMC’s project is a 27.06-km toll road that will pass through Silang, Amadeo, Tagaytay, Indang, Mendez and Afonso in Cavite and Nasugbu Batangas.
Franco said the DPWH and
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) are continuously communicating about MPTC’s project.CTBEX is seen to decongest about 23,000 vehicles daily.
Apart from CTBEX, MPTC also proposed to construct NLEX-Cavitex Port Expressway Link―a 15-kilometer, six-lane expressway with elevated and tunnel portions, from NLEX Segment 10 to Cavitex. This is expected to provide an ideal truck route to and from Manila Port Area.
MPTC also submitted an unsolicited proposal to build the C-5 Expressway―a 20 kilometer, six-lane elevated expressway from the end of NLEX Segment 8.2 in Quezon City to Cavitex C-5 South Link in Taguig City.
It operates the North Luzon Expressway, Cavite Laguna Expressway, Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway and C5 Southlink Expressway.
