Iloilo Province Jumps 11 Spots in Competitiveness Index
Iloilo Province moved 11 notch higher in the 2020 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Survey. It was named the 25th most competitive province in the country. In 2019, it landed on the 36th spot. Moreover, 32 of the 43 LGUs in the province earned higher ranks. Two towns made it to the top 20.
The municipality of Conception ranked 6th among third to fourth class municipalities. It jumped by 265 places, from its 271th rank in 2019. The municipality of Mina jumped from 232th to 13th place among fifth to sixth class towns.
The CMCI Survey conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry measures the LGUs' overall competitiveness based on four indicators - government efficiency, economic dynamism, infrastructure, and resiliency. Government efficiency refers to the quality and reliability of government services. Economic dynamism is associated with activities that create stable expansion of business and industries and higher employment. LGUs are also ranked based on infrastructures that connect and sustain the LGU and its surroundings to enable the provision of goods and services. Resiliency refers to the capacity of LGUs to sustain businesses and industries despite the shocks and stresses it encounters. (LHC/Capitol news)
