DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Over P7.4 million worth of livelihood starter kits under the Livelihood Seeding Program (LSP) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) were distributed to at least 842 beneficiaries in Pangasinan.

Natalia Dalaten, provincial director of DTI-Pangasinan, said the program, which has two component projects such as Negosyo sa Barangay (NSB) and Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG), aims to provide livelihood opportunities for micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) and allow a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to them.

Under the LSP, Dalaten said DTI Pangasinan was able to distribute various livelihood starter kits in 23 municipalities and one city in Pangasinan amounting to P7,478,501 as of July 29 this year.

Dalaten said before the distribution of the livelihood assistance, the beneficiaries have undergone assessment, orientation, and capability building and entrepreneurship seminars to further enhance their knowledge on starting or growing their business.

“Bago po tayo magbigay ng livelihood starter kits dumaan po muna sa proseso ang mga identified beneficiaries kung saan nagkaroon po tayo ng profiling at validation of submitted documents,” she said in an interview.

She added that after the livelihood starter kits were awarded, DTI-Pangasinan also conducted random visitation to the beneficiaries for continuous mentoring and coaching and to assist them further in enhancing their business.

Dalaten said, this year, MSMEs from Umingan, Natividad, San Nicolas, Sual, Bani, San Quintin, Burgos, Aguilar, Sison, Basista, Sta. Barbara, Mapandan, and Dagupan City have benefitted from the LSP-NSB program while residents from Natividad, Balungao, Burgos, San Quintin, San Jacinto, Tayug, Sison, Basista, Aguilar and Mapandan have received the assistance under the LSP-PPG.
