CALAX is a 44.63 km road network that passes through the provinces of Cavite and Laguna. It connects the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX).
The groundbreaking ceremony for this project was held in March 2019, which initially jumpstarted the construction of CALAX’s Cavite section. The first section of the CALAX was opened in February 2020.
The stretch of CALAX starts in Kawit, Cavite up to SLEX-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna. It is set to have interchanges in nine locations, which are the following: Kawit, Daang Hari, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay, Laguna Blvd., Technopark, and a toll barrier before SLEX. CALAX is also said to reduce the travel time between SLEX and CAVITEX from 90 minutes to around 45 minutes.
MPCALA Holdings, a unit of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), was selected by the DPWH as the winning bidder at Php 27.3 billion in June 2015.
