5 Reasons to Move to Mandaluyong
5 Reasons to Move to Mandaluyong
Here's why you should make the move to the Tiger City. By Loraine Balita
November 16, 2018
Mandaluyong is not showing signs of slowing down in its business and economic progress. Real estate developments like Avida Towers Verge continue to rise in the city.
The place known as the Tiger City of the Philippines is aptly tagged such because of its remarkable business and economic progress in recent years. And it’s not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon; it continues to lead the pack of the most highly urbanized cities in the country.
With so many new developments in Mandaluyong, Pursuit of Passion lists down five perks when you move to this city.
1. Opportunities for work and business
Mandaluyong is located a short distance away from many CBDs, like Ortigas, Bonifacio Global City, and Makati. The place itself is home to headquarters and main offices of major companies—such as UNILAB, Accenture, and Globe to name a few—which offer job opportunities with stable career growth. Doing a simple Google search will give you an idea of the abundance of jobs one can apply to if you are to live in the area.
Since it’s a busy hub for work and leisure, it attracts people from all over Metro Manila and beyond. As such many businesses in the city are reaping the benefits of its rapid growth and development.
2. Proximity to top schools
Professionals living in Mandaluyong who plan to get into graduate school even have the option of going to the new University of the Philippines or De La Salle University BGC campuses that both offer graduate school courses and are located just a few minutes away.
3. Affordable Shopping Finds
Live in Mandaluyong long enough and you’ll know where to score everything from thrifted finds to affordable albeit branded items. From clothes and shoes to furniture and appliances, even books, you’ll go crazy bargain hunting in Mandaluyong.
Watch out for regular sales on shoes and other sporting goods in the Royal Sporting House warehouse along Sheridan Street and keep your eyes peeled for announcements on the occasional Automatic Centre Warehouse sale, also along the street.
Shopping options are nearby at Avida Towers Verge
There’s also Blims Warehouse located along Williams Street that often opens its doors to furniture hunters looking to score discounts on sofas, beds, cabinets, and other home needs. Then there’s the big HMR Trading Haus warehouse located along Pioneer Street where you can find furniture, clothes, toys, bags, sporting goods, and just about anything on sale.

4. The Mandaluyong Media Center in your Backyard
In recent years, the city has been welcoming many major media companies who have chosen Mandaluyong as their headquarters. If you are an aspiring media professional, or just someone who wants to work for a media company, Mandaluyong is the place for you.
Among the many media giants who have chosen this city as their home are TV5 and CNN Philippines. Summit Media is located along Pioneer Street.
5. Many Transportation Options
Almost all streets, areas, and corners of Mandaluyong are covered by different modes of transport. There’s almost always a bus, a jeep, or a tricycle plying any street around the clock (especially since there are so many offices here with employees on graveyard shift) that many choose to leave their cars at home. Other modes of transport bring commuters from Mandaluyong to various parts of Manila.
The MRT’s Boni Station for one brings passengers from Mandaluyong and the new Pioneer District to other cities. What’s even more exciting is how the government’s many ongoing road and transportation projects will benefit those living in this city.
The new and improved Pasig River Ferry System, set to begin operations in December 2018, will give commuters the option to skip the traffic along major roads and traverse the newly rehabilitated Pasig River instead. The Ferry System will have 29 stations that will be built in phases and 24 boats. The new stations will be established along the river in the cities of Mandaluyong, Pasig, Taguig, Makati, Manila, and Marikina.
The BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road project, set to be completed by March 2020, will connect the two business districts and improve accessibility among the cities of Mandaluyong, Pasig, Taguig, and Makati. This road project involves the construction of a four-lane bridge across the Pasig River connecting Lawton Avenue in Makati and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig. Once completed, travel time between the business districts in Taguig and Pasig City will only take 12 minutes.
By 2024, residents of Mandaluyong will enjoy the benefits of having the country’s first subway system. The Mega Manila Subway Project will run from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City up to the airport in Pasay. The subway will pass through key areas of QC and Mandaluyong. This massive subway system will improve mobility of people within Metro Manila. And it will connect Mandaluyong to various cities and cut travel time in half.
Being close to central business districts and within minutes to schools or shopping centers, plus having access to different modes of transport that offer convenience are just a few of the many perks of choosing Mandaluyong as your home. And Avida is offering you a chance to enjoy these perks through Avida Towers Verge, a three-tower residential development located in the midst of all the goings-on in Mandaluyong.

Thanks for sharing!
Though I haven’t purchased one myself (budget reasons), my engineer and corporate friends have looked at DMCI Homes’ condos and say they are good. Amenities-wise and quality-wise.
Great read!
I’ve been to Tivoli Garden by DMCI and I think that’s a good place to check out if you wanted to rent first. But if you’re looking to buy, try inquiring about Sage Residences. Pre-selling pa yata.
