    The mountainous province of Rizal is located just at the east of Quezon City. It’s a nearby road trip destination for those looking for a quick escape from the city. Whether you want to fill your day with nature through a hike, or take your leisurely time at an art gallery, Rizal has a lot to offer. Check our our list for must-visit attractions below:

    1. Masungi Georeserve

    Venture off to the foothills of the Sierra Madre range towards the popular Masungi Georeserve, a conservation project in the Philippines. Take a tour around this 600 million year-old rainforest sanctuary and discover some of the most incredible natural wonders in the Philippines. From unique rock formations of limestone and karst to over 350 documented species of plants and wildlife - this conservation area is sure to be an enjoyable natural playground for visitors.

    2. Mt. Daraitan

    Mount Daraitan is an ideal location for a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, spelunking, and camping. Trade in the city’s hustle and bustle for a serene and calming experience surrounded by nature. Mount Daraitan is an ideal spot for nature-lovers with the many accessible forest trails, caves, and rolling grasslands - all of which make you feel like you're one with nature. Don’t forget to drop by Tinapak River, one of the country's cleanest, free-flowing rivers surrounded by large marble rocks.

    Safety Guidelines:

    Mt. Daraitan is accepting up to 250 guests daily. Guests are required to bring their own alcohol, wear a face mask and face shield and observe social distancing as much as possible.     3. El Patio Razon

    After a long and tiring hike up the beautiful Treasure Mountain, reward yourself with a trip to El Patio Razon - a public rest house just right next door. Here, guests can indulge in a relaxing Kawa Hot Bath, or warm up by their bonfire at night. Its remote location also allows for a jaw dropping stargazing opportunity - one you absolutely can’t miss!

    Safety Guidelines:

    Guests will be required to reserve their slots, maximum of 2 hours each - walk ins are not allowed. Guests cannot share Kawa Baths, unless a couple or from the same household and same goes for tents. For general guidelines, masks and face shields are required, and social distancing must be practiced. Anyone below 21 will be not be allowed entry. More on their Facebook page.

    3. Mount Purro Nature Reserve

    Tucked in the foothills of Sierra Madre Mountain Range, Mount Purro Nature Reserve is another sweet escape away from the busy city life. Reconnect with nature as you try each fun-filled activity inside the nature reserve and get to meet the indigenous Dumagat Tribe, one of the local communities in Mount Purro. Afterwards, delight yourself with a delicious and filling home cooked lunch buffet at Loli's Kitchen.

    Safety Guidelines:

    Reservations are required, NO walk-ins. Masks and face shields must be worn at all times and health declaration forms must be filled out prior to check in. Guests are required to bring their own towels and toiletries. Guests below 15, over 60, pregnant women, and with immunocompromised health conditions will not be permitted to enter.     4. Avilon Zoo

    Avilon Zoo is the largest zoological institution in the Philippines with a 7.5-hectare facility that houses more than 3,000 specimens of exotic wildlife. Spend a fun day at the zoo discovering over 500 species of birds, freshwater fishes, invertebrates, and more! Here, guests will learn about animals and the conservation efforts to preserve certain endangered species.

    Safety Guidelines:

    Guests must confirm their visit at least two days before through landline (+63289483986) or Facebook message. Guests under 21 and over 60, pregnant women, and those with pre-existing illnesses are not permitted to enter. No face mask, no entry; physical distancing should be observed at all times.     5. Pinto Art Museum

    It’s likely you’ve already heard of the Pinto Art Museum - and for good reason. This popular gallery is located in Antipolo, and houses many unique art pieces that you can’t help but snap a photo of. The museum also has an outdoor area for guests to roam around, and it’s charming facade makes for really great photos.

    Safety Guidelines:

    No facemask, no entry - facemasks should be worn at all times and social distancing (of min 1-meter) should be observed. Health Declaration Forms should be filled up. Children, infants, senior citizens and immunocompromised guests will not be allowed to enter. More on their Facebook page.

    6. Luljetta's Hanging Gardens Spa

    There’s a little resort in Antipolo City that you can visit which offers a charm for a perfect day of relaxation. Experience the first and only hanging gardens and spa in the country and be amazed  at its picturesque view of Laguna de Bay.  Avail of their famous spa treatments and relaxing facilities that are sure to give you the pampering that you need and finish off your day with their famous rice cake!

    8. Pililla Windmill Farm

    You won’t need to go all the way to Ilocos for a similar sight, because you can find a line of windmills just over in Rizal. They’re situated just by the road, making it a great stopover and photo stop for those on a road trip.

    9. Mount Mapalad Nature & Culture Appreciation Tour

    Show your appreciation for nature and culture on this immersive hiking tour to Mount Mapalad. Climb up the peak and stay at the view deck and witness panoramic sceneries overlooking the Sierra Madre mountains. Meet the indigenous Dumagats who will educate you about native trees found along the trails and even take part in their demonstration on how to cook using bamboo.

    Safety Guidelines

    Take note of their safety reminders at their registration point. Hiking in big groups may not be allowed at this time, so come in a smaller group where you can still maintain proper distancing. Bring an ID, quarantine pass, medical clearance and wear your face mask and shield.

    10. Mt. Tagapo, Talim Island

    Mount Tagapo is a beautiful hiking trail that is uniquely situated on a lake island, in the largest lake in the country: Laguna de Bay. It’s quite hard to believe that a hiking trail this beautiful exists in the Philippines, much less so near Manila! The hike offers endless views of green landscapes and sky, making it the perfect option for those who wish to truly surround themselves in nature.
