Model for PPP: Marcos lauds Frederick Go over new Clark Airport terminal
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. On Wednesday (September 28) lauded bilyonaryos Frederick Go and Josephine Gotianun-Yap for building a world class, new terminal at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.
At the inauguration of the terminal, Marcos teased the two bilyonaryos, as well as executives of the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD) over the acronym.
LIPAD will manage the new airport terminal.
“Pinilit niyo talaga para ‘yung ano maging ‘lipad’ ano? But it worked out very well,” Marcos said.
“It is also important because this facility is another building block to what we hope to become a logistic center of Asia, the Philippines,” he added. “Ganitong-ganito ang ating kailangan.”
Marcos said he’s hopeful that more public-private partnership projects will come into fruition during his administration.
“This is a perfect example of what government and the private sector can do. And makikita mo kung private sector lang ang gumawa nito, hindi nila kinaya. Kung gobyerno lang ang gumawa, hindi rin kinaya ito. And that is why this is a perfect example for that,” he said.
Marcos said more regional airports should be operated while the Ninoy Aquino International Airport is under rehabilitation, and the airports at Sangley, Cavite and Bulacan have yet to be built.
