Petrowind Energy Inc. (PWEI) of the Yuchengco family is targeting to start commercial operations of its 13.2-megawatt Nabas 2 wind power project in Aklan by September.
PWEI, a subsidiary of listed PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC) sought from the Energy Regulatory Commission a provisional authority to construct a point-to-point transmission line to connect the Nabas 2 wind project to the transmission network of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines to ensure that the wind project is completed on schedule.
Another Yuchengco-led company EEI Corp. will construct the dedicated line for a period of nine months.
The transmission facility is estimated to cost P257.726 million. It will connect the Nabas 2 project to the 13.2 MW Nabas-AVON-Caticlan substation overhead transmission line of NGCP using the existing 4 km 69kV transmission line of PWEI and the proposed common switchyard of Nabas 1 and Nabas 2.
The Nabas 1 with a capacity of 36 MW involves 18 units of 2 MW Siemens-Gamesa wind turbines which are already operational.
PWEI won a supply contract for the Nabas wind 2 under the Green Energy Auction Program of the Department of Energy last year.
