Who got richer? EKR, Lucio Tan, Sy-blings, Villar stretch their good fortune in November
Filipinos in the world’s three-comma-club posted back-to-back winning months on the back of rising investor confidence.
The 13 ultra bilyonaryos on Forbes’ billionaires list have a combined assets of $37.3 billion in November, up 13 percent from October.
This is better than the Philippine Stock Exchange Index’s 10 percent month on month gain to 6,780.
Ports, casino and infrastructure mogul Enrique K. Razon is this month’s biggest winner with his wealth expanding by 17 percent or $900 million to $6.3 billion.
Razon’s International Container Terminal Services came back from the grave as it zoomed 18.5 percent to P205 on November 30.
The Sy siblings’ collective wealth gained 15 percent or $1.8 billion to $14 billion in November.
This was driven by a steep rise in their holding firm SM Investments (up 14 percent to P939) and SM Prime Holdings (up 15 percent to P36.40).
Taipan Lucio Tan was among the top gainers with his assets ballooning by 16 percent to $2.2 billion thanks to his LT Group Holdings (up 16.5 percent to P9.40) and Macroasia (up 13 percent to P5.19).
Property and media tycoon Manny Villar was the second biggest upmover with a $600 million or nine percent bump in net worth to $7 billion even though his core stocks tanked during the period.
Villar’s overpriced memorial park and mass housing stock, Golden MV Holdings, bloated his value as it surged 11 percent to P630 in the last 30 days.
Villar’s core stocks plunged – Vilsta Land & Lifescapes (down 20 percent to P1.39) and AllHome (down 44 percent to P1.53).
