Victorias Milling Co. Inc. (VMC), controlled by bilyonaryo Lucio Tan, plans to develop solar and biomass projects with a combined capacity of 320 megawatts subject to the results of a system impact study.
VMC said these are still subject to approval “and the subsequent possible implementation thereof are subject to the outcome of the system impact study to be conducted by the NGCP [National Grid Corporation of the Philippines] or a third party.”
The three projects are part of the five projects that were cleared by the Department of Energy to undertake system impact study in January. These include solar projects of VMC subsidiary Victorias Green Energy Corp., namely the 150 MW solar project in Manapla and 100 MW Victorias solar project, both located in Negros Occidental.
VMC is also developing a 70 MW biomass cogeneration plant in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The company was incorporated on May 7, 1919 to engage in integrated raw and refined sugar manufacturing as well as to operate engineering services.
VMC has since diversified into food processing, leisure, real estate, and energy generation.
