DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD)-Regional Office 1, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, will conduct a Housing Caravan at the Provincial Training and Development Center 2 in Lingayen town on October 18.
 
The Housing Caravan is part of the National Shelter Month celebration this October aimed at further equipping Filipinos with more knowledge of their financial options in acquiring safe and sustainable homes.
 
Aptly themed “Abot-kayang pabahay tungo sa panatag na buhay,” this year’s celebration is reiterating the Department’s ultimate objective of providing affordable shelters that are decent and sustainable, effectively uplifting the lives of Filipinos, particularly the informal settler families and those in the low-income bracket.
 
Among the activities for the Housing Caravan include the awarding of citations to compliant local government units and homeowners associations and developers, within the province and gift giving to the identified beneficiaries belonging to those under the poverty threshold. 
 
Ka-Balai Key Shelter Agencies (KSAS) of the region shall also join in the activity and will be provided booths to be located at strategic areas within the provincial grounds for their information, education and communication activities, other advocacies and services to the public.
 
The KSAs include the Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC), National Housing Authority (NHA), Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC), National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. (NHMFC), and the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund.
 
Aside from Pangasinan, the DHSUD and its KSAs will also conduct a Housing Caravan at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood and Development Center in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on October 20, 2022.
 
Proclamation No. 662 declares the month of October every year as National Shelter Month where it recognizes housing as vital to the overall development of the country and enhancement of the social, economic and spiritual well-being of Filipinos. (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
