MANILA, Philippines — A major part of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) – Ortigas Road Link Project may be open to motorists starting May 2021, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Tuesday.
According to the DPWH, the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge, which plays an important role in linking the business districts of BGC in Taguig and the Ortigas Center in Quezon City and Pasig, would only need a few finishing touches before opening to the public.
The four-lane, two-way bridge would connect Sta. Monica Street in Kapitolyo, Pasig City to the Lawton Avenue near the University of Makati — two roads separated by the Pasig River.
“The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) targets to partially open this May 2021 the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge which is a major component of the BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project,” DPWH said in a statement posted on their Facebook page.

The full 1.367-kilometer BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project, including the Lawton Avenue – Global City Viaduct, is expected to be completed by September 2021. Once finished, DPWH said that the project would reduce travel time between BGC and Ortigas Center from a one-hour trip to 12 minutes.
It is also seen to ease traffic congestion on EDSA and C-5, the main thoroughfares motorists use to travel from Ortigas to BGC and other nearby establishments as of now.
