2 Pangasinan towns linked by farm-to-market road
MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 3.4-km. farm-to-market road (FMR) from Barangay Bakit-Bakit in Rosales town to Barangay San Miguel in Balungao.
Esperanza Tinaza, DWPH 1 (Ilocos) information officer, said the usual 25-minute trip has been reduced to 10 minutes.
“The road network significantly improved the mobility from remote areas,” she said in a statement. “Farmers may also use the road to bring equipment to their farmlands in an easier way.”
The project costs PHP30 million, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2022.
It included the installation of 42 units of street solar light-emitting diode lights.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos, also the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, has ordered the creation of an FMR masterplan that would identify locations, funding sources, and duration of construction that would make food mobilization more efficient. ***(PNA)
